Bauernschnapsen Play

Weekly tournaments: Play for medals against real people

Once a week each game has its evening: a tournament of Bauernschnapsen for four and one of Schnapsen for two. Take a seat whenever you like while it is on, play one Bummerl a table, and collect points. The best three of every tier win gold, silver and bronze.

The next tournaments

The first weekly tournaments start soon. Make your free account in the game now, and you are ready when they do.

Free, for players with an account. Real people only, no prize money: you play for the glory.

    How it works

A tournament, from your first seat to the medals

    1. Join

The next tournament of each game is on the game’s start screen a week ahead. Sign in with your free account and tap Join, or simply take a seat once it has started.

    2. Take a seat

While the tournament is on, take a seat whenever you like. As soon as enough players are waiting, four for Bauernschnapsen or two for Schnapsen, the server opens a table. Players with similar points sit together, and partners are drawn at random.

    3. One Bummerl a table

Each table plays one Bummerl. When it is over you see your points and your place, then tap Next table to wait for the next one, or take a break.

    4. The last tables

Shortly before the end no new tables open. The tables still playing are played out and still count, and once the last one finishes the standings are final.

    5. The medals

The best three of each tier get gold, silver and bronze. Your medals stay on your account, in Your profile, for good.

    The points

Win often, and win in a row

Every Bummerl you finish at a tournament table scores points. A win is worth more when it comes straight after two others.

    • 2

      A Bummerl won

Your side wins the Bummerl: 2 points for each of you.

    • 4

      On fire

After two wins in a row, every win is worth 4, until you lose one.

    • 0

      A Bummerl lost

No points, and your run starts again from the next win.

    • 0

      Leaving a table

No points for that table, and you take a break until you sit down again. The computer finishes your seat so the others can play on.

    An evening, Bummerl by Bummerl

    1. Won+2
    2. Won+2
    3. Won+4
    4. Lost0
    5. Won+2
    6. In all10

The third win in a row counts 4. After the loss the next win counts 2 again.

    • Equal points? Then more wins come first, then fewer Bummerl played, then the higher rating.
    • Every tournament Bummerl also counts for your rating, just like Play with anyone.

    Tiers and medals

Medals for every tier, not just the top

Your rating in each game puts you in one of five tiers. Everyone plays in the same tournament, but each tier has its own gold, silver and bronze, so a newcomer can win a medal on their first evening.

    1. Newbie

Everyone starts here, and stays here for the first ten rated Bummerl.

    2. Building

Finding your feet, with a rating from 1200.

    3. Seasoned

A steady player, as good as the computer on Hard, from 1350.

    4. Expert

Wins clearly more than they lose, from 1450.

    5. Tip of the Top

The best of the best, from 1550.

    • Your tier for a tournament is the one you had when you joined it, so it cannot change during the evening.
    • A medal needs at least one Bummerl won. Your rating moves at Play with anyone and at tournament tables, where the server runs the game.

    Fair play

Real people, and nobody can cheat

    • The server runs every table

The server deals, checks every card and keeps the score. Nobody’s phone ever holds another player’s cards.

    • Partners drawn at random

At Bauernschnapsen you do not choose your partner, so friends cannot team up to pass each other points.

    • Real people only

A table opens only when enough people are waiting. The computer only takes over a seat whose player has left.

    • For the glory

No entry fee and no prize money. Medals, badges and your place in the standings are what you play for.

    Questions

    Tournaments: questions and answers

    • When are the tournaments?

Every week, one evening for each game. The next ones are at the top of this page and on the game’s start screen, in your own time zone.

    • Does it cost anything?

No. Tournaments are free. You need a free account so your points and medals can be kept, but no Premium.

    • Do I have to play the whole evening?

No. Come late, leave early or take a break between tables: your points stay. Playing more tables gives you more chances to score.

    • What happens if someone leaves my table?

The computer takes their seat so your Bummerl can be finished, and your result counts as usual. The player who left gets no points for that table.

    • Can I choose my partner?

Not in a tournament: partners are drawn at random at every table. To play with a friend, start a table for friends any time.

    • Can I play a tournament in the app?

For now tournaments are on the website, on any phone, tablet or computer. Sign in with the same account you use in the app; the apps will have them soon.

    See you at the table

Warm up against the computer, then come back for the next tournament.
